Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 6/30/2003

Summer Solstice was fun!  There were many in their pajamas.  The “Evening Stroll” was a hit with comments like “I found out were to shop for a great gift” or “Wow, there are nice shops here!”  Paris Drake, Psychic, answered questions for those who came for a reading.  Four “Giant Green Lake Gift Baskets” were raffled off, one valued at over $1,000.00 and the other three over $300.00 to $500.00.  Congratulations to the lucky winners.  Pictured are the winners of our cutest pj and slipper contest along with the gift certificates they won.  Judging from the laughter from the spectators, the Bed Races sure were fun to watch.  There were many howlers for the “Howl at the Moon” contest.  All participants received a gift bag.  Three were chosen to win our “Howl at the Moon" T-shirts.  For those of you that attended, let us know what you liked, disliked, or what we could add.  We appreciate input!

“Concerts in the Park” started on June 25th and even though it rained like crazy, it stopped just in time to have the concert in the park.  If you would like a schedule let us know, we would be happy to send you one.  The bands are paid for through donations and sponsorships, so if you would like to donate $8.00 ($1.00 per concert) to "Concerts in the Park" and receive an "I Helped Support Green Lake's 2003 Concert Series" button just send a check to Green Lake Area Chamber, P.O. Box 337, Green Lake, WI  54941 or come enjoy a concert and purchase one there.  There is popcorn, soda, water, cookies, and ice cream sold at the concerts, also.  There are restaurants that offer boxed lunches on concert nights.  To get more information on who and what they offer, just let us know.

Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration is this Friday with a Pancake Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the American Legion.  In Playground Park starting at 11:00 a.m. there will be Games, Food, Face Painting, Refreshments, Duck Races, Pie & Ice Cream Social, and Farm Market.  Parade at 2, Pork BBQ from 3-6 p.m. Live music with Jaguar from 12:30-3.  Activities at the Green Lake Conference Center start at 5:00 until after the fireworks at dusk.  Help keep our event going by purchasing items at our Chamber Tent.  The fireworks are solely funded by our buttons, which you can purchase for a $25.00 or more donation to the Green Lake Fund.

Don’t Forget--besides our events Green Lake does have many wonderful sights to enjoy, nice shops, great dining, cozy lodging, and fun places to play.

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
