Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 9/30/2003

The State Chili Cook-off was held in Green Lake September 6th and was a huge success.

1st place winner was Ronald Zold from Racine serving Cherry Bomb Chili.  Ron will be heading to La Vegas for the National Chili Cook-off Championship. 

Other winners are as follows...

2nd place - Kevin Christensen from Ripon with Two Fat Guys Chili

3rd place - Jeanne Payton from Ripon with Jeanne Booms Febreeko Chili

Spicy Award - Ted Von Uhl from LaCrosse with Mississippi Heat Chili

Showmanship Award - Aldo Klinghammer from Taylorville with No Name

People's Choice - Bobbi & Mark Baum from Bristol with Chilibomb Chili

 

Our Golden Days Harvest Festival was held on Saturdayand Sunday, September 27th and 28th. In spite of the rainy weather hundreds of people still attended this event.  Inserted is a picture of our 2003 Harvest Fest Princess, Dannielle Connor.  We have also updated the Golden Days Pics on our website, so if you get a change take a peek at them.  We do have a list of all the raffle and contest winners during this event, so if you are interested please let us know.  Next year's Golden Days Harvest Festival date is September 25 & 26, so mark your calendars now!

 

Next event is Christmas by the Lake and will be held on December 6, 2003.   There will be the Festival of Wreaths, Silent Auction, and Live Music at Thrasher Opera House again this year.  Santa, of course, will be here passing out treats, reading at the Library, and Lunching at the Goose Blind. We are still in the planning stages and will let you know more next month.

 

Instead of coupons this month we would like to tell you about our First Annual Green Lake October Women's Month and Super Saver Card. 

Mayor Lawrence D. Behlen of Green Lake has officially proclaimed October as Green Lake Women's Month, welcoming all women to the community for a first annual ritual of selfnurturance.  Official Proclamation can be seen at the Green Lake Area Chamber Office.  You can pick up a Supper Saver Card at these participating businesses...
