Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 10/31/2003

Fall is definitely here in Green Lake, the leaves have changed colors, and most are falling off the trees making work for most and fun for the young at heart.

Our First Annual Green Lake October Women's Month ends today.  Historical Women of Green Lake were featured in the Green Lake County Reporter during this month and next year the Reporter is planning on featuring Present Women of Green Lake.  Thanks to Kristin Radtke they were very interesting articles.

Christmas by the Lake will be held on December 6, 2003.  Thrasher Opera House will be filled with music, the Festival of Wreaths, Silent Auction, and Raffle.  First prize in the Raffle is a Giant Christmas Stocking, stuffed with goodies from many of our businesses; second prize is a Winter Weekend Getaway courtesy of the Heidel House including a Romantic Gift Basket courtesy of Mill Street Junction.  Santa will be at his Christmas House, next to the Chamber office, at 10:00 a.m. to pass out treats, then on to the Library for Story Time.  Have Lunch with Santa at the Goose Blind at 11:30 a.m. or else you can catch him afterwards while he visits the shops of Green Lake.  Pictured are Santa and his helpers last year taking a pause in their stroll downtown.  Don't forget to stop in at the many unique retail shops donned in their holiday finest, sign up for their free drawings, and enjoy the music and refreshments.  Something new this year there will be a Tour of B & Bs all decked out in the best Holiday Decor.  Giant Gift Boxes will be outside businesses participating.  Pick up a Christmas Stroll Card at one of these participating businesses and visit all the shops listed on the card for a change to win a special prize.  Cookie Decorating will be done at the Chamber Office-what a yummy treat!  For the second year we will have a Residential and Businesses Decorating Contest.  The Business winner will receive a traveling trophy while the Residential winner will receive a Chamber Gift Certificate.  Don't you just love the look of Christmas?  More things are still being planned for Christmas by the Lake, so we will let you know about these activities in our next newsletter.  Please join us for this great event!

The Winterfest Committee is hard at work preparing for February 13 & 14, 2004.  There will be many activities going on, so next month's newsletter will have more information for you.

Our Green Lake Calendar of Events has been updated some more for 2004.  Check it out and sign up for reminders or mark your calendars!

Don't forget, all year round, Green Lake does have great places to shop, dine, stay, and enjoy!

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
