Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 11/26/2003

The weather is getting colder; winter is definitely in the air.  Hopefully we will have ice and snow this year for those who like to snowmobile, ski, ice skate, ice fish, etc.

Christmas is coming and with Christmas by the Lake held on December 6, 2003 hopefully we can get you in that Happy Holiday state of mind.  Before you come, please look through your cupboards and toys because from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. we will be having Scouting for Toys (only new or lovingly used toys please) at the Chamber Office and a Food Pantry Tent on the Courthouse Lawn.  9 a.m. starts the Christmas Sweet Shop at Harbor Lights.  Hopefully you will find more than enough to satisfy that sweet tooth.  Most of the other activities will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.  Start by picking up a Christmas Stroll Card and shop for that special something or just enjoy the Holiday Specials.  The businesses with the Big Christmas Presents in front are the ones participating.  Don't forget to get your card stamped, and then drop your card into the Christmas Stoll Card Box at Thrasher Opera House for a chance to win a $100.00 Chamber Gift Certificate.  While at Thraher Opera House why not bid on the Silent Auction items or the beautiful wreaths decorated by Chamber businesses for the Festival of Wreaths. Take a chance and buy a Raffle Ticket for the Giant Christmas Stocking full of great gifts for everyone or a Green Lake Winter Weekend Getaway at Heidel House.  Sit a spell and enjoy the Musical Entertainment of the Green Lake High School Band, Green Lake Junior or Senior Choir, Lac Verde Chamber Quartet, or Piano Music by Corrine Ziesemer’s piano students.  Pictured is last year's stocking as you can see it was over flowing with goodies.  Cookie Decorating at the Chamber Office starts at 11 a.m. until all the cookies are gone (Edible Art-Yumm!).  For those young and old, Santa arrives by fire truck at 10 a.m. at the Candy Cane House next to the Chamber Office to greet and pass out treats, then 10:30 off to the Caestecker Library for Story Time with the Elves, have lunch with Santa at the Goose Blind from 11:30 to 1 p.m.  From 10 a.m. 'til 4 p.m Food and Refreshments will be available on the Courthouse Lawn beside the "Peace Around the World" International Flags.  Carriage Rides start at the Courthouse from 11-2.  Don't miss out on this year's Tour of Historic B&Bs from 1-3 p.m.  Stick around for the Tree Lighting, Love Lights & City Christmas Decoration Dedication, and Caroling beginning at 5 p.m. in Playground Park.  Please come & help make this a great event!

The Winterfest Committee is still working hard on preparing for February 13 & 14, 2004.  There will be many activities going on and just to touch upon a few would be Volley Ball, Ice Sculpturing, Ice Bowling, Ice Golf, Entertainment, Winterfest Queen, Raffle, and new this year will be a Baked Bean Contest.  More to follow in our December Newsletter!

We at the Chamber hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving holiday.  I cannot believe only one more month to go and then a New Year will start.

Please don't forget that Green Lake has great places to shop, dine, stay, and enjoy, all year round!

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
