Hello from Green Lake, Wisconsin! 12/30/2003

Green Lake had snow and you can still see some of it.  The Lake does not have enough ice for fishing yet.  Hopefully soon we will have ice and snow for those who like to snowmobile, ski, ice skate, ice fish, etc.  Even if we don't have ice or snow, Green Lake still has plenty to do if you want something to do; if not and you want to come and just relax, that can be done here also.  Please don't forget that Green Lake has great places to shop, dine, stay, and enjoy-all year round!

Our Christmas by the Lake event went well.  Christmas by the Lake was really in the spirit of giving with Scouting for Toys, Food Pantry drop off and Dollhouse raffle, Christmas Sweet Shop to help raise funds for Tri-Casa and Lady of the Lake, and the Rotary raising funds by selling food and beverages on the Courthouse Lawn.  The Chamber did their own raffle and Silent Auction to help offset expenditures.  The raffle was either a Giant Christmas Stocking filled to overflowing with many items or a Winter Weekend Getaway for two (pictured for you to see).  The Silent Auction had many wonderful items along with wreaths for the Festival of Wreaths, which now have good homes.  We thank everyone that was able to enjoy this event with us.  If anyone has any comments or suggestions for Christmas by the Lake 2004, please let us know-we are always open to new ideas and/or constructive criticism.

The Winterfest Committee is still working hard on preparing for February 13 & 14, 2004.  There will be many activities going on.  Just to touch upon a few...there will be Co-ed Volleyball Tournaments, Ice Sculpturing Contest, Ice Bowling for young and old, Hole-in-One Ice Golf, Entertainment by Greg Gerard, a new Winterfest Queen, Raffle, and new this year will be a Baked Bean Contest.  More to follow in our January Newsletter!

Everyone here hopes that you had a very Merry Christmas.  We cannot believe that another year will soon be over.  How time flies!  We hope that you have a great New Year in 2004!

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
