Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 5/28/2004

Last month we mentioned rain being what spring is all about.  Someone must have taken us literally because did we get rain, rain, and more rain.  You can see by the picture of the dam how high the water is.  The rain is getting everything nice and green though.  Well, enough about the rain.

Green Lake's Great City Wide Garage Sale had many participants, which gave people more places to find what they were looking for.  The Chamber now has a start on weatherizing the office, thanks to all that stopped in and purchased something.

Update on what our Chamber Committees are doing (Please, remember that these are only some of our Committees)…

Summer Solstice:  Our poster and fliers are done and the information is on our website.  Added this year is a Palm Reader, Juggler, Dunk Tank, and a Classic Car Show.  Find or buy a cute pair of pajamas and bedroom slippers, practice your best howl and join in on the contests.  We hope to see you on June 19 from 6 to 11 p.m.

Circus:  The day after Summer Solstice stay for the Alain Zerbini Circus.  Come see it at the Green Lake County Fairgrounds.  Two shows to choose from one at 2 p.m. and another at 4 p.m.  Tickets are available in advance at 1st National Bank, Green Lake State Bank, Timmy's Grocery Bag, and the Chamber Office for $8.00 each.  Tickets at the show will be $10.00 each.

“Concerts in the Park”:   We can't wait until the first concert of 2004 starts on June 23rd with the Friesland Men's Choir.  Information is already on our website under the calendar of events.  Family Picnic Night, scheduled for July 21st, will have part of the UW Marching Band performing from 5:30-6:00 p.m. before the concert, again this year.  Buttons will be for sale again, so donate $8.00 ($1.00 per concert) to "Concerts in the Park" and receive an "I am a Star Supporter Green Lake's 2004 Starlight Stage Concert Series" button.

Green Lake's 4th of July Celebration:  Our motto this year is "Green Lake Salutes America the Beautiful", which is on our fundraising buttons for fireworks this year.  These can be purchased for a $25.00 or more donation to the Green Lake Fund.  This is a fun filled day with Breakfast in the morning, parade in the afternoon, fireworks at night and games, music, food, and refreshments throughout the day.

Please Don’t Forget--besides events we do have many great sights to enjoy & places to shop, dine, stay, and play.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend.

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
