Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 9/30/2004

The State Chili Cook-off was held in Green Lake September 6th and was a huge success.

1st place winner was Warren Fowler from Green Bay serving No Guts No Glory.  Warren will be going to the National Chili Cook-off Championship in Nevada. 

Other winners are as follows...

2nd place - Brian Dorn from Salem with Silent Wind Chili

3rd place - Mark Haught from Las Vegas, NV with Haughts "2" Hot

Spicy Award - Jennifer Carr from LaGrange, IL with Maverik Chili

Showmanship Award - Jim Haltaufderheide from Fond du Lac with Jamaican Rum Dums

People's Choice - Al Slowey from Westfield with Swamp Lake Chili

 

Our Golden Days Harvest Festival was held on Saturday and Sunday, September 25th and 26th.  We could not have asked for better weather.  Thousands of people attended the event, this year.  Inserted is a picture of our 2004 Harvest Princess, Elizabeth Karlovich.  We had 71 winners in our Harvest Raffle.  The first three prizes were - first prize of a $1,000 Shopping Spree going to Ames Wade, second prize of a Green Lake Weekend going to Grace Sonntag, and third prize of $200.00 Chamber Gift Certificate going to Phil Burmeister.  Congratulations to all the raffle winners and thank you to all those who purchased raffle tickets.  We had 460 classic cars, which is a record number for the Classic Car Show.  We are also updating the Harvest Festival pictures on our website, so if you get a chance take a peek at them.  Next year's Golden Days Harvest Festival date is September 24 & 25, so mark your calendars now!

December 4, 2004 is Christmas by the Lake.  Santa, of course, will be here passing out treats, reading at the Library, and Lunching at the Goose Blind.  We are still in the planning stages and will let you know more next month.  If you have any ideas for this event please call or email us.  We would really like this to be a must come to event.
