Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 11/30/2004

The weather is getting colder and winter is definitely in the air.  We hope to have enough ice and snow again this year for all those who like to snowmobile, ski, ice skate, ice fish, etc.

Christmas is coming and with our Christmas by the Lake event on December 4, 2004 hopefully we can get you in that Happy Holiday state of mind.  Before you come, please look through your toys because from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. the Boy Scouts will be Scouting for Toys (only new or lovingly used toys please) at the Chamber Office.  9 a.m. starts the Christmas Sweet Shop at Harbor Lights.  Hopefully you will find more than enough to satisfy that sweet tooth.  9 a.m. is also the time to start dropping off your 15 (12 on a covered disposable plate and three in a separate bag) best Holiday Cookies at Harbor Lights, along with the recipe, for the Holiday Cookie Contest.  Judging will be at 10:15 on the dot.  Most of the activities will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.  Start by picking up a Christmas Stroll Card and shop for that special something or just enjoy the Holiday Ambiance.  The businesses with the Big Christmas Presents in front are the ones participating.  Don't forget to get your card stamped, and then drop your card into the Christmas Stoll Card Box at Thrasher Opera House for a chance to win a $50.00 Chamber Gift Certificate.  While at Thrasher Opera House why not bid on the Silent Auction items or the beautiful wreaths decorated by Chamber businesses for the Festival of Wreaths.  Pictured is one from a previous year (thought after the Monday night game you might appreciate the wreath chosen).  Take a chance and buy a Raffle Ticket for the Giant Christmas Stocking full of great gifts for everyone or a Romantic Evening for Two.  Place a dollar in the container in front of the Gift-wrapped box you feel should win the honor of saying that they have the best wrapped gifts around OR just sit a spell and enjoy the Musical Entertainment of the Green Lake Jazz Band, Green Lake Junior or Senior Choir, Casey Getz, Piano Music by Corrine Ziesemer’s piano students, or be part of the Handel's Messiah Choir.  Cookie Decorating will be at the Chamber Office from 10 a.m. until all the cookies are gone or 3 p.m. (Edible Art-Yumm!).  For those young and old, Santa arrives by fire truck at 10 a.m. at his Candy Cane House next to the Chamber Office to greet and pass out treats, then 10:30 off to the Caestecker Library for Story Time with the Elves, have lunch with Santa at the Goose Blind from 11:30 to 1 p.m.  Then from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Santa will be back at his Candy Cane House to hear what you wish for Christmas.  Parents don't forget to bring your camera along for picture taking.  Food and Refreshments will be available from 10 a.m. 'til 4 p.m. on the Courthouse Lawn beside the "Peace Around the World" International Flag display.  Horse Drawn Wagon Rides will be by the Courthouse from 11-2.  Check out the Graham Cracker Houses and Gingerbread Houses at 510 Mill Street made by students from Green Lake School and Peace Lutheran School.  Stick around for the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Love Lights Dedication, and Community Caroling starting at 5 p.m. in Playground Park.  Please come and share the joy of the Holiday season with us in beautiful Green Lake!

The Winterfest Committee is still working hard on preparing for February 11 & 12, 2005.  There will be many activities going on and just to touch upon a few there will be Volley Ball, Ice Sculpturing, Ice Bowling, Ice Golf, Entertainment, Winterfest Queen, Raffle, and more.  More information to follow in our December Newsletter!

We at the Chamber hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and we hope to see you this Saturday, December 4.

Please don't forget that Green Lake has great places to shop, dine, stay, and enjoy, all year round!

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
