Hello from Green Lake, Wisconsin! 12/23/2004

Big Green Lake is just starting to ice up around the edges.  There is still plenty to do in Green Lake or just come to relax.  Don't forget that Green Lake has many great places to shop, dine, stay, and enjoy-all year round.  We do all hope to get enough snow and ice for all the great winter activities!

Our Christmas by the Lake event went well.  Pictured are Santa and his helpers in front of Santa's Candy Cane House.  This event really got into the spirit of giving with Scouting for Toys, the Christmas Sweet Shop (helps raise funds for Tri-Casa and Lady of the Lake Church), the food and beverages on the Courthouse Lawn (helps raise funds for the Green Lake Rotary), the Gift-wrapping Contest and the Holiday Cookie Contest (proceeds all went to the Food Pantry), along with some proceeds from the entire event also going to the Food Pantry.  The Silent Auction had many wonderful items, including the wreaths from the Festival of Wreaths Contest.  We thank everyone that was able to come and enjoy this event with us.  If anyone has any comments or suggestions for 2005's Christmas by the Lake, please write us at Green Lake Area Chamber, P.O. Box 337, Green Lake, WI  54941 or email us at info@visitgreenlake.com.  We are always open to new ideas and/or constructive criticism, which help us to improve our events year after year.

Our Annual Chamber Christmas party held at the Goose Blind was well attended this year.  The raffle raised $715.00, thanks to Joann LaMire from Sadie Hawk Antiques, who donated her share of the 50/50 raffle prize back to the Angel Tree Program.

The Winterfest Committee is working hard preparing for February 11 & 12, 2005.  Following is a list of activities:  Entertainment by Greg Gerard, Winterfest Dance, Crowning of our new Miss Winterfest (takes place Friday night at 10 pm), Co-ed Volleyball Tournaments, Ice Carving Contest, Ice Bowling for young and old, Carriage Rides and Helicopter Rides (weather permitting), Games, Food and Beverages, Fishing Seminars, Hole-in-One Ice Golf, Raffle (Grand Prize is $750.00 cash, 2nd Prize is $500.00 cash, 3rd Prize is $250.00 cash, plus additional prizes), and a Fisheree.  Complete details will be in the January Newsletter!

Cannot believe that another year will soon be over.  How time flies!  Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2005!

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
