February 2005

Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 2/28/2005

The weather for Winterfest was very good.  We had some snow, ice, sun and mild temperatures for winter in Wisconsin. I felt sorry for the volleyball players who had puddles and mud to play in, challenging though.   Green Lake's 2004 Miss Winterfest, Emilie Ratter is pictured, so you will know who she is at some of Green Lake's upcoming events.  We thank everyone who joined in making our first event of 2005 a success.

If anyone has been able to take advantage of the many Romantic Getaway Month/February Specials that were offered, if you have any suggestions or comments to pass along to our Chamber Members for next year please let us know.  We really value your input and welcome ideas that would improve on what we offer you, our guests.

The Chamber's next endeavor is May 1, 2005 for Green Lake's Great City Wide Garage Sale.  The Green Lake Area Chamber will again be one of the participating sellers, so please make 550 Mill Street one of your stops when looking for a bargain.

The Summer Solstice Committee is working hard on expanding Green Lake's Big Pajama Party, scheduled for June 18, 2005.  Some things that may be added are; more contests, extending this event for the whole weekend, and adding a farmers market.  More information will be in the March and April newsletters.

The Concerts in the Park Committee is scheduling bands for the “Concerts in the Park” series that are held Wednesday nights in Deacon Mills Park.  There will be 8 concerts again this year, starting June 22 through August 17.   Please note that the Green Lake County Junior Free Fair is scheduled for August 3-7, 2005, which means there will be no concert on August 3.  The Green Lake Area Chamber is helping to sponsor a Lumberjack Show on August 6th as part of the Green Lake County Junior Free Fair.  As always more information will be in the next few newsletters.

Please pencil in all of the dates above on your calendar or you can get a reminder sent to you via e-mail a week before the event by going to www.visitgreenlake.com, click on events-view by year, then click on the event you would like and under each event near the bottom of the page you can sign up for the reminder.

If you have not received a Green Lake Visitor's Guide 2005 yet, just let us know.  We would be happy to send one or more to you.  Our new guide now includes interesting individual articles on Green Lake's many events.

In beautiful Green Lake there is always something to do and/or see.   Great places to shop, dine, stay, play, fun events, or just to enjoy the sights.

Until next time, take care and hope to see you soon!
