April, 2005

Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 4/28/2005

Green, Green, Green the color all around Green Lake.  We have not had a lot of rain in April, but things are sure growing.  Weather wise we are definitely having spring temperatures.

"Green Lake's Great Gas Giveaway" - Our Lodgers Promise: "We'll give you gas, and that's no hot air!"  Participating lodgers will be giving away gas vouchers worth $25 to all visitors who stay a minimum of two nights, Sunday through Thursday during the months of May and June.  If you would like more information check out our homepage or reply with a mailing address and we would be happy to send you information.

Saturday, May 7th is Green Lake's Great City Wide Garage Sale, whether you are having a sale or just coming, we wish you good luck.  Please don't forget to stop by the Chamber Office and check out the donated items for sale from our Chamber Members.  For those who would rather be fishing and not Garage Saling - Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Northern Pike, Brown Trout, and Walleye Seasons re-open May 7, 2005.

Our Chamber Committees are hard at work getting events organized.  Listed below are just a few…

Summer Solstice:  Saturday & Sunday, June 18 & 19.  Fun for all, Green Lake's big Pajama Party!  There will be a Street Dance, Food, Beverages, Car Show (pictured is a couple cars from last year), Horse and Wagon Rides, Face Painting, Howl at the Moon Contest, Bed Races (by participating Chamber Lodging owners/employees and also will be open for the public to participate), an Evening/Morning Stroll (Pick up a Stroll Card, visit participating shops-get the card stamped-when done drop in Stroll Card box for a chance to win.), Cutest PJ and Slipper Contest, Raffle for one or more Giant Green Lake Gift Baskets (valued at over $300.00 each in the past), Clowns, specials and more.  New, so far, will be a Hula-Hoop Contest, Jump Rope Contest, and a Cookie Baking Contest.  Around Memorial Day weekend there will be Summer Solstice T-shirts and raffle tickets available at participating businesses.

Concerts in the Park:  8 concerts June 22 through August 17 on Wednesday nights in Deacon Mills Park from 6:30-8:30.  There will be no concert on August 3, so you can enjoy the Green Lake County Junior Free Fair (with three Lumberjack shows on Saturday, August 6).  The UW Marching Band will be back again for Family Picnic Night, July 20 beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The full band schedule will be on our website soon.  The committee is working on the button design, so we will have to just wait and see what they come up with for this year.

We do have many other things-to-do, along with great places to shop, dine, stay, play, or just come and enjoy the sights in Green Lake.  For those who would like to know where they could hear Live Music while visiting Green Lake, we have "Live music at Green Lake Businesses" on our website now.  Also, for more information on Berlin, Green Lake, Markesan, Princeton, and Ripon check out Green Lake Country Visitor's Bureau's website at www.glcountry.com.

If you would like more information on anything in this newsletter please email, call or check out our website.

Until next time, take care and we hope to see you soon!
