Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 8/30/2005

August just flew by with September just a few days away.


Here is a recap on some of August's activities...

-Green Lake County Free Fair on August 3-7 had the Fairgrounds filled with fun for young and old.   

-Reel in the Deal Days on August 5 & 6 hooked many shoppers with great deals indoors and out. 
-Fred Scheer's Lumberjack Show on August 6 was very entertaining.  You could tell by listening to all the laughter coming from that area.

-Starlight Stage Series (Concerts in the Park), last concerts on August 10 & 17 had perfect weather for those who attended.  
-
Fine Arts Show on August 13 & 14 had an awesome array of talent, again this year.  Many unique creations were purchased.
-8th Annual Friendship Bicycle Tour for Big Brothers/Big Sisters had more participants this year than last year and everyone really enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

 

A look at a few events that are happening in September...

-Wisconsin State Chili Cook-off scheduled for Saturday, September 10 is a great fun competition with the 1st place winner heading for the National Chili Cook-off Championship.  Samples, music and fun for all. 

-Green Lake Wooden Boat Show scheduled for Saturday, September 17 where you can come and view these wooden masterpieces at Green Lake Marina or show off your own wooden masterpiece by calling us at 920-294-3231 to sign up.

-Golden Days Harvest Festival scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, September 24 & 25 is Green Lake's biggest event.  Felix will display his talent on pumpkin totems again this year, pictured is one from last year.  Some activities are Crafter Fair (max of 100)-filled with great handmade items to purchase, Farmer's Market-looking really good for those who love fresh produce/flowers and more, Food Faire-with wonderful things to eat, Autumn Pancake Breakfast Sunday morning sponsored by the American Legion, Entertainment, Face Painting, Raffle-with 1st place being A Green Lake Gala Weekend for Two, 2nd place $350.00 worth of Green Lake Area Chamber Gift Certificates, and 3rd place 1/2 day Pontoon/Picnic for Six along with many more items to win, Live Auction on Sunday will have many great things to bid on, Motorcycle Show on Saturday, Classic Car Show on Sunday, BBQ Chicken and Pork Roast during and after the Parade on Saturday, Games for all ages, Scarecrow Contest for those who would like to participate-if you live in town or want to bring your creation into town register by noon on Saturday (the Chamber will be joining in on creating our own scarecrow this year).  More information on Green Lake's Golden Days Harvest Festival is available on our website under events. We also have brochures ready to pick up or just give us your mailing address and we will be happy to send one to you.

 

Just to touch on October happenings...

EVERY October has been officially proclaimed by the Mayor of Green Lake, Joe Parise, as Green Lake Women's Month.  A copy of this proclamation will be on line soon, so please stop back and check it out!  The October Women's Month Committee is putting together a special weekend just for you.  There will also be a Special October Event Calendar that will be available after September 19 to pick up or mail out.  More information will be in September's newsletter.

 

Green Lake always has great sights to see (the leaves starting to changing colors already), nice shoppes to find those special treasures in, delicious places to dine, cozy lodging establishments, and so much more.
