Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 10/28/2005

Fall is definitely here in Green Lake as you can see for yourself by the included photo; some leaves have changed, others are still changing, and some have already fallen off trees making work for some and fun for the young at heart.  Always a beautiful sight to see, a gorgeous bouquet fit for a giant.

Our Third Annual Green Lake October Women's Month is coming to an end with at least 14 events left for you to enjoy.  The Chamber event on October 8 was the In-Home Party Vendor Market at the City Hall Gym, which was very well attended for a first timer.  Most vendors had their own drawings for prizes.  There was also a main drawing for the hostess gifts (donated by the vendors), that was won by Shaunda Jennings from Ripon.  We do plan on having it again next year, so keep an eye on our calendar of events.  Many other events took place during this month.  If you were able or unable to attend please let us know if this would be something you would want annually and we will be more than happy to pass your request along.  The Green Lake County Reporter featured young women of Green Lake during this month with very interesting articles,  thank you to Kristin Radtke for doing such a great job.  Just a reminder, if you went traveling with your Passport to Grand Prize you still have time to go to more destinations.  The Passport to Grand Prize mailbox is right outside the Green Lake Area Chamber's door.  The winner with the most destinations would receive A "Holiday Season of Beauty", which includes Facial, Hair Styling/Color/Perm, Pedicure, Manicure, Waxing, Make-up and romantic dinner for 2 at Two Chez along with as many Aqua Massages as you would like (good during November15-December15, 2005).  Anyone could win this, even if you start today and shop, dine, or stay in Green Lake.

Christmas by the Lake will be held on December 3.  Thrasher Opera House will again be filled with music, the Festival of Wreaths, and Silent Auction.  Santa will be at his Christmas House, next to the Chamber office to pass out treats, Courthouse Lawn for picture taking and Lunch at the Goose Blind.  Get some Christmas shopping done by stopping in at the many unique retail shops with Giant Gift Boxes outside (they will be having drawings and in-house specials).   For the fourth year we will have a Residential and Businesses Decorating Contest.  See if you can guess who will be the winner or if you live in the area get decorating and be a winner yourself.  The Business winner will receive a traveling trophy.  The Residential winner will receive a Chamber Gift Certificate, to help with Christmas shopping or have a night out.  We are still in the planning stages for Christmas by the Lake, so more information will be in next month's newsletter.  Please join us for this great event!

The Winterfest Committee is working hard at preparing fun things to do on February 10 & 11, 2006.  We will let you know more in the next few newsletters.

The Green Lake Calendar of Events on our website has been updated for 2006 with all the main events and a few extras.  Check it out and sign up for a reminder (notification would then come to you via email) or if you have a 2006 calendar already make sure to mark those dates that you don't want to miss!

All year round, Green Lake has does have great places to shop, dine, stay, and enjoy!

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
