Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 3/30/2006

Spring is finally here!  We are starting to get the nice spring temperatures.  People are out walking, riding, and best of all - Rediscovering Simple Pleasures in Green Lake.

The Green Lake Area Chamber will be having a sale of donated items from Chamber Members during the Great City Wide Garage Sale on May 6th.   Hopefully in April's newsletter I can give you a hint on some of the items you may be able to find at 550 Mill Street (Chamber address).  The flyer with maps and information will be available for you to pick up in our indoor and outdoor racks, usually a few days before the sale.  For those of you who want to place in ad in the flyer, for your own sale, we have those forms available in the office.

The following are Chamber events (keep in mind this is just the ones coming up)...

Summer Solstice is Green Lake's Big Pajama Party, held on Saturday, June 17 celebrating the longest day of the year from 10am to 10pm.  Summer Solstice will begin at 10am with specials and jar guessing in participating shops.  More activities will run from 5-10pm with contests, a few extra surprises, and bed races (forms will be available on the website for those interested in participating).  Included is a picture of a past year's bed race-to show that it is not your typical race.  For as you can see you have to make the bed along with other duties to win.  More information will follow in the next two newsletters.

There will be 8 Concerts in the Park this year on Wednesday nights in Deacon Mills Park, starting June 21 through August 16.  There will be no concert on July 5, to give everyone a break after the 4th of July fireworks.  Concerts in the Park buttons will be on sale at each concert for those who wish to have a souvenir of the 2006's Concerts in the Park Series.  The bands will again help promote the button sale by using their donated items as prizes to buttons wearers.

Green Lake's 4th of July Celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 4 this year.  There will be games, duck races, food & refreshments, a parade, live entertainment, and of course the fireworks!  The fireworks will be located in a different place this year and more information will follow in the next few newsletters.

2nd Annual Chalk Art Festival will be a benefit event this year with some of the proceeds going to Friends of the Library.  This event is scheduled for Saturday, July 15.  More information on this will be coming in the next newsletters.

If you have not checked out our website Calendar of Events please do so, as we try to make sure you have plenty to do.  Special Green Lake area entertainment and events in the surrounding area are included.  We hope this helps in planning your trip - be it for one-day or more.

Green Lake has many things-to-do: shop, dine, stay, golf, fish, boat, swim, canoe, horseback ride, visit interesting places, live music, hot-air balloon ride, bike, camp, bowl, or just come and enjoy the sights.

A presentation of Green Lake Area Chamber's new marketing plan will be done by TMG, Beth Treacy, at the Chamber Annual Dinner on May 1 at the Heidel House along with the unvailing of our new website.

Until next time, take care and hope to see you soon!
