Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin! 5/31/2006

Above is our NEW Green Lake Area Chamber Logo, Visit Green Lake WI & Rediscover Simple Pleasures.  Hope you like it!  The totally updated website, which I am so excited about, is almost ready.  With this change we will also be changing the look of the newsletters, so please bear with me and help me out.  Anytime you feel that the newsletter doesn't have what you are looking for please let me know.

Green Lake's Great City Wide Garage Sale was a great success.  The weather was nice and again there were a lot of people in the area.  The Chamber would like to say "Thank you" to those who donated items, stopped in to check out what we had and also to those who helped by making a purchase.

Following is up-to-date information on what the Green Lake Area Chamber Committees are doing (Please, keep in mind that these are only some of our Committees)…

Summer Solstice:  Green Lake's Big Fun Filled Pajama Party on Saturday, June 17, 2006.  The flyers and brochures are done and an on-line poster is available (there is a link in the event description and also on our homepage).  If you would like a brochure please reply back with your mailing address and we would be happy to send you one.  Listed below are some things that you can be a part of, such as:
Jar Guess:  There will be many participating businesses in the area that will have a jar full of items for you to guess "how many are in the jar".
Bed Racing:  The application is online with a link on our homepage--this is FREE and open to the public, all you need is a 3-person team, everything else is provided.
Cookie Contest:  If you think you have the greatest cookie recipe and would like to put it to the test, all you need to do is make 15 cookies (12 on a disposable plate and 3 in a bag for judging) and your recipe.  You can drop them off between 6 and 8pm at the Chamber booth on the Courthouse Lawn.  Judging is at 8pm sharp.
Cutest Pajamas and/or Bedroom Slipper Contest:  All you have to do is make, find, or buy a cute pair of pajamas and/or bedroom slippers and model them for the judges to win Chamber Gift Certificates.
Howl at the Moon Contest:  Practice your howling and see if others think that you are the best howler in the area.
We hope you can join in on the fun, June 17 from 10am to 10pm.   Make sure you purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of three Giant Green Lake Gift Baskets valued at $300.00 or more.  If you have never been to this event - it is really something to experience, even just once.  Warning: you may want to do this again and again!

“Concerts in the Park”:   The first concert of the series is Norrie Cox & His New Orleans Stompers scheduled for Wednesday, June 21 in Deacon Mills Park from 6:30-8:30pm.  All the concerts are included on the calendar of events on our website.  We do have a tentative schedule that can be sent out if you would like one.  As soon all the contracts come back then the poster will be available on our website.  As in past years our fundraisers include; concessions, the Family Picnic Night and a commemorative button for $8.00 ($1.00 per concert).  The bands are helping us promote our buttons by donating prizes that can be won by button wearers during the concerts.

Green Lake's 4th of July Celebration:  Our Green Lake Area Chamber tag line is "Rediscover Simple Pleasures", which is on our commemorative 4th of July fundraising buttons for $5.00 this year.  July 4th is a fun filled day with breakfast in the morning, food & beverages, duck races, petting zoo, face painting, farmers market, games, live entertainment and parade.  The activities and fireworks will all take place in the downtown area of Green Lake this year.  Fireworks will be done off a barge in Dartford Bay.

Chalk Art Festival:  2nd Annual Chalk Art Festival scheduled for July 15 (rain date July 16) from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Judging at 5 p.m.  There is a pre-registration form on-line at www.headforgreenlake.com/chalkart.htm or you can use the link on our homepage.  If you would like more information please call 920-294-3231.

We do have other things-to-do, along with places to shop, dine, stay, play and many great sights to enjoy (like our beautiful lake).

Until next time, take care & we hope to see you soon!
