Newsletter

March 2008

Hello from Green Lake Wisconsin!

3/28/2008

Personal Note:  Our Newsletters will have a different twist from this newsletter on.  March will feature the Green Lake City Flower...and each newsletter afterwards will feature something you may not have known about Green Lake.

"Happy Returns" Daylily declared Green Lake's City Flower

In 2007 the "Happy Returns" Daylily was declared Green Lake's City Flower.  The Happy Returns Daylily is a lemon yellow lightly fragrant ruffled 3-inch bloom, which starts in mid-June and persists without a sign of flagging deep into October, re-bloomer.  Pest and deer resistant, which is great for Wisconsin.  Compact habit makes it ideal for front of the border plantings.  Thrives with minimum care.  Known for vigorous growth and heavy flowering.  The soft lemon yellow blooms are upright and perky on 15 to 18-inch stems that seem immune to weather.  They create an impression of lushness and abundance that stays fresh even in baking heat.  These sturdy field-grown fans will settle in quickly and give you many "Happy Returns".  Sound just like Green Lake to me.  The Green Lake Area Chamber will be having a flower sale the second week in May.  If you are interested in more information please reply back and let us know.

Summer Solstice, June 21, 2008

Green Lake Area Chamber's 11th Annual Summer Solstice event will be held on Saturday, June 21 from 10am-10pm.  The Summer Solstice Committee had their first meeting on Thursday, March 27 at 5:30pm in the Chamber Office.  Anyone wanting to help with this event please let us know.  Those who have great ideas or suggestions please reply back and share with us.  A couple new ideas that came out of this meeting were to have unusual cars in the Car Show and to have a PJ Parade.  If you have a unique car or know of someone that does and would like to enter the Car Show give us a call at 920-294-3231.  Pictured is the tricycle race that was newly added last year.

4th OF JULY on July 4, 2008

Green Lake Area Chamber's 4th of July Celebration will be on Friday, July 4th this year.  Hopefully everyone can enjoy this celebration along with the great fireworks on the lake.  There will be activities in Deacon Mills Park and Playground Park making it a citywide affair.  More about what will be taking place will be in the upcoming newsletters.  If you would like to volunteer (as you can see it is fun to be a volunteer) or have any ideas/suggestions reply back and let us know.
