Green Lake, WI  |  Monday, June 29, 2020—Summer is in full swing in Green Lake, Wisconsin, although it may feel a bit different due to the CDC guidelines put in place earlier this year. The Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the Green Lake Fireworks will be held on July 4th, 2020 at dusk.

The show will be shot off from Dartford Bay area near Hattie Sherwood Park by South Lawson Drive. The goal is to send the charges up over Big Green Lake high enough so that as many as possible can view the display from the shoreline, car, lake home, and boat.

A one-of-a-kind sight to see, the patriotic-themed boat parade will begin at 1 pm from Sunset Park and will arrive at Deacon Mills Wharf area at approximately 1:45-2:00 pm. This boat parade is put on by Shoreline Boat Center.

Community individuals have rallied together to coordinate an informal parade that will begin at 4 pm from the Green Lake County Fairgrounds, heading south on Lake Street, turning west onto South Street, north on Mill Street, and then south back on Lake Street towards the County Fairgrounds again. No registration is needed, and participants should refrain from throwing out candy or any other items.

From 5:30-8:30 pm head down to Deacon Mills Park where local musician Dan Braaksma will be entertaining the audience from the Starlight Stage band shell with folk, country, rock, and original hits.

Although this year’s festivities that take place throughout the downtown area are canceled; duck races or any other day-of activities, we recommend you take a stroll downtown Green Lake to explore what our local shops and restaurants have to offer.

The Chamber, along with our local businesses, are implementing the safety guidelines put forth by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and CDC guidelines and feel that the fireworks display will still allow all visitors to practice social distancing.  We have worked closely with our local county health department and city officials to ensure a safe and healthy event.  We fully expect that throughout the city that parking lots, open areas, neighborhood parks, and such will be utilized throughout the weekend.

Those that are concerned about large gatherings in the same location can make sure they protect themselves by staying home, watching the display online through the Green Lake Facebook Page, or in a vehicle somewhere within the Green Lake area. We are confident that adjusting the show within these new parameters will allow thousands to view the show in the sky safely and celebrate our country’s Independence Day during these challenging times.  Some visitors may be hesitant or critical of this decision and we respect their opinion. As always, the decision was made with the best interests of the community in mind.

The Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce would like to send out a big thank you to all those who have donated to the fireworks fund and helped make this show possible. If you are interested in giving, please call the Chamber at the below number or donate online at www.visitgreenlake.com/donate/.
