chalk walk, by bette sliwa, co-founder of chalk walk

In 2005, my friend Teeter Allen and I were thinking about fun, new ways to bring families to the GreenLake area. Teeter is a retired school teacher, and I owned a shop in town. We both share a love for children, the arts and creativity. A few conversations later, Green Lake Chalk Walk was born. Now an annual event lasting over a decade, I’m proud to say the event continues to grow, and the art continues to amaze me. This is truly a family event. Artists of all ages and levels of ability participate, and together they cover the Green Lake sidewalks with dozens of beautiful, unique chalk compositions. My grandchildren and I always look forward to the end of July!
