Learn how to engage your subjects and capture studio and environmental portraits. The class will cover lens choice, composition, camera angles, lighting, and the use of backgrounds. This three-part, starting with an essential skills class via Zoom, followed by an outdoors socially distanced hands-on class with a professional model and end with a student critique and skills review class via zoom. Virtual Live Event Part 1 (Thursday, April 15, 7 – 8:00 p.m.) – Learn the essentials to prepare for the second, in-person class on Saturday. In-Person Part 2 (Saturday, April 17, 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) – Get hands-on experience with a professional model at the outdoor, socially distanced class located on Mill Pond Terrace at Town Square. Virtual Live Event Part 3 (Thursday, April 22, 7 – 8:00 p.m.) – Together, we will review and discuss the best images shot by each student and learn to improve the way we approach and capture our images. Experience has shown that the review and critique process is one of the best ways for students to learn, get new ideas, and be motivated to expand their photographic vision. Michael’s work has appeared in a number of international travel books and magazines and is the author of a series of family history books.
