Memorial Day, by Mark Kramer, Commander for the American Legion Post 306 and the Green Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Volunteer of the Year

Shortly after I returned from Vietnam, I marched with the Color Guard leading the Memorial Day parade in Green Lake for the first time. As we turned the corner onto Mill Street, I was moved to see the crowd lining the street. When we passed by, the crowd stood—not only to honor the flag, but to cheer for allof the Veterans. I was filled with emotion. I still am now, and at every parade, nearly forty years later. Our Veterans are overwhelmed by the support and pride shown by the Green Lake community.
