For people who are craving outdoors time during winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the Green Lake Conference Center is a great option! Last winter, albeit with some hesitation, I decided to try my hand at cross-country skiing and I could not be more pleased that I did. It’s not as difficult or intimidating as it seems. I’ll walk you through it. First, stop by the Ski Shop at the Conference Center entrance and pick your poison—skis or snowshoes. Then, once you’re properly outfitted, head out on the well-maintained trails throughout the Conference Center and golf course. The breathtaking snow- covered scenery—peaceful and serene—is a sight you won’t want to miss. After a few hours spent enjoying the outdoors with friends, who were even more adventurous than I, we headed back to the ski shop and finished out our day with hot chocolate and laughter. This year, I’m trying snowshoeing. Though I may have to go back and ski, as well.
